COVID-19 survey due July 15, dashboard updates, space updates and more for VCU employees

Our priorities are the health, safety and wellness — both physical and emotional — of every member of the VCU community. VCU continues to monitor, assess and address situations as they arise. This weekly update will be a resource to help keep you informed as details become available. VCU employees: Remember to report your COVID-19 vaccine by July 15

All VCU employees are required to complete the COVID-19 vaccine survey by July 15

Please note: This information is for VCU employees only and not for VCU Health System employees. If you have already submitted your vaccine documentation, you do not need to fill out this survey or re-submit your documentation. All other VCU faculty and staff are required to complete this survey to either submit vaccine documentation for the first time or alternatively indicate that they are in the process of being vaccinated, do or do not plan to be vaccinated, or prefer not to answer. 

  • VCU employees who report their vaccination to VCU are exempt from masking, daily health checks, surveillance testing and quarantine requirements. Your Entry Pass will default to a green check. For details, visit
  • Employees who choose not to be vaccinated, as well as employees who are vaccinated but do not report their vaccination to VCU, must follow public health measures for their health and for the health of our community including but not limited to: wearing a mask, routine surveillance testing, completing daily health checks and following quarantine procedures. Entry Pass requirements will apply, and entry will be allowed if the proper public health measures are followed. 

Who sees my information?

Only authorized personnel can access vaccine records. VCU will apply security measures when handling this information to prevent unauthorized access or disclosure. Employee Health has a team responsible for verifying COVID-19 vaccine documentation for employees. Once verified, employees are automatically removed from the surveillance testing pool and daily health check requirements. Employee Health may also access this information if an individual reports COVID-19 symptoms or if they are identified as a close contact of a confirmed positive case. 

Vaccines, active cases and testing data

VCU continues to publish COVID-19 metrics, including active cases and testing data, based on the information reported to VCU Student Health Services and Employee Health. Information about reported student and university employee vaccinations can also be found on the One VCU: Better Together vaccination dashboard. VCU expects vaccine reporting to increase over the next several weeks, though there will always be members of the VCU community, as well as those in the community at large, who for a variety of reasons do not get vaccinated. To protect yourself and those who are unable to get vaccinated, public health and safety experts recommend that those who can be vaccinated get the vaccine (click here to find a vaccine near you). 

Campus space updates

Based on guidance from the state, VCU has lifted density restrictions in all settings, though some classrooms may utilize 66 percent of the full capacity. Colleges and schools may work with the Office of Records and Registration to increase course capacity if they wish to do so. Students and employees who wish to practice physical distancing may continue to do so. Talk to your supervisor if you have questions or concerns about space. Asking others about their vaccine status is not advised.
